Each year we have helped schools with their Christmas giving trees. No child in America likes waking up Christmas morning without a gift. It’s not about the gift it’s about the love of the child. We give so that children can feel loved and appreciated on a special holiday.

To my Aunt, Christmas was a year long holiday. If it was up to her Christmas decorations would stay out all year and some did. Every room in the home was converted into a winter wonderland. For her the excitement and joy of giving was always her delight. She loved to give, Christmas brought out the Childlike excitement in her. One of my favorite Christmas presents was a Santa boot that my Aunt made and painted. In it was a bag of M&M’s. All these years later I remember the gift, what was in it, where I was when I got it and what year I got it. I still display this gift every year in our home, memories.

As a child I can remember the Christmas’s that we had a lot and the Christmas’s that we had little. It wasn’t always about the amount of gifts, it was the love of family being together. Christmas to our family was about the great gift of Jesus coming to this earth as a child. Our celebration, our joy and our passion for Christmas. Christmas joy for us as a family is all about giving. Giving time, resources and gifts.

Let this Christmas be a time of reflecting on your childhood memories with your family. Spend time with them, love them and hug them. Those memories you will always remember.

This year please give to a child who longs to open a gift on Christmas morning. Will you give and show love to others that need. Help create a wonderful memory for a child.
